Flue gas recirculation ducts use the combustion energy, which would otherwise be wasted, to dry and preheat the powdered coal. The ash content of the flue gases calls for high abrasion resistance refractories. The materials we produce have been successfully in service, for more than two decades, in all coal fired power plants across Greece. Apart from refractories, insulation materials are of high importance so as to minimize heat losses and reduce fuel consumption. This last goal is today more relevant than ever, as the need for environment conservation is becoming greater every day.

After leaving the ducts, the flue gas – coal mixture is lead to the mill where the coal gets pulverized. This highly abrasive two-phase stream  calls for high abrasion resistance refractories, especially at the impact zone. Ash left after coal burning, literally comes down as a shower on the boiler’s hopper. This highly abrasive shower dictates the use of very hard materials based on Silicon Carbide (SiC), in order to protect the boiler tubes.  The materials we produce have been successfully in service, for more than two decades, in all coal fired power plants across Greece.
