Monolithics & Mortars
Monolithic refractories consist of a wide variety of powder like materials, which become ready for use after the addition of water or another suitable liquid and properly mixed with it. These materials are unshaped mixtures which are crafted by adding aggregates and bond(s) in extremely precise percentages. This extreme precision, in conjunction with top quality raw materials and bonding agents, is crucial for the successful manufacturing of materials which are capable of developing every possible aspect of their nature and properties, and thus living up to the expectations of each and every customer. Those with a true porosity greater or equal to 45% are categorized as insulating. Their installation method can be casting and gunning.
Ramming materials are another category of monolithic refractories, which are installed by ramming action produced either by a pneumatic hammer or by a rubber/wooden mallet. They combine finely powdered aggregates with a matrix being semi-plastic in nature and are supplied either as being ready for ramming or they become ready after being mixed with water.
They are also known in the industry as unshaped, refractory concretes /mortars/ cements.

Mortars are again powder like materials which are used to bond individual refractory bricks together, while at the same time they seal the joints against infiltration from liquids, gases and dust. They are categorized as air or heat setting.
